After each transport, our ambulances are cleaned and disinfected according to the national infection control guidelines (NIR) established by the State Serum Institute. All patients can therefore feel safe with us.

Cleaning of ambulances
When we need to clean and disinfect our ambulances, we follow the National Infection Control Guidelines (NIR) established by the State Serum Institute. These guidelines describe, among other things, that cleaning can be done with ordinary cleaning agents, and if water is not available, pre-impregnated cleaning cloths with soap/detergents can be used. Additionally, the guidelines describe:
- In most situations, cleaning alone without subsequent disinfection is sufficient.
- Cleaning and, if necessary, disinfection are performed as two separate procedures, i.e. cleaning first followed by the chosen disinfection method.
- It is important to clean equipment that has been on the floor or in contact with contaminated material.

Disinfection of ambulances
If it is determined after a transport that the ambulance also needs to be disinfected, the guidelines from the State Serum Institute are followed. For manual disinfection, products such as alcohol-based solutions (70-85% v/v) as well as chlorine- or peracetic acid-based products should be used.
After manual disinfection, we use an ozone generator for further disinfection when we have transported a patient who is suspected or confirmed to be infected with COVID-19. The ozone generator kills more than 99% of all bacteria, fungi and viruses, including COVID-19, that may be present in the ambulance. Read more about the generator below.

Ozone generator
At Event Medical Services, we use the ozone generator from Würth. The ozone generator is used, for example, when we have transported a COVID-19 patient in the ambulance.
The ozone generator is our guarantee that we remove all bacteria, fungi and viruses from the ambulance after a transport. When the ozone generator is started, it can remove 99.9% of 650 different organisms that can cause infectious diseases within 15-30 minutes.
All patients can feel safe when they ride with us, as a high level of hygiene is one of our top priorities.
